Renthal Sprockets worth the extra?

Post by Firemonkey »

WHat are people's feelings on renthal sprockets, are they worth paying extra for?

They do an 'ultralight' front and a hardwearing 'hard anodised' rear but I'd be paying £54 delivered for the pair?

Would you guys and girls recommend that I go for steel on a storm and get JT sprockets instead?

Uses the Firestorm front brake caliper so that counts...right? :)

Rear renthal looks nice, but I didn't notice any difference when I fitted one. I guess reducing weight is a cumulative thing. Taking off bits here and there eventually add up.

My personal opinion, I'd not bother with the Renthal's, I'd would replace with JT sprockets in steel :!:

Got renthal sprockets on mine nice gold ally ones there only there because they look nice bit of bling
Things like this are useful for racing reducing the unsprung weight of the wheel but on a road bike I doubt you’d notice any difference

When I had Hornet I wore set of Rentals aluminium sprockets in less than 10 000 km. That was end of my experience with "lightweight" Rentals. As long as standard sprockets size is OK I always going for Honda ones and never ever regretted it. Specially since Honda front sprocket come with rubber/plastic guide that gives a bit extra mileage to chain and sprocket.
In here set of Honda sprockets would cost same as JT, so no point unless change in teeth needed.
