Sometimes if the bikes been sitting still for a long period you get tight links.
Could be the rust... I usually sit the chain in a bucket of diesel for a day or two, hang it up to dry and when you fit it back give it a bleedin' good coat of lube. :)

TIMBO.

I would strongly suggest you change the chain (and sprockets too). I bought a bike that had sat like that for a while (Suzuki GSX600) and had done only a few thousand miles. Cleaned it all up as you do with a new purchase, lubricated the chain and it seemed OK. With bike sat on stand and ticking over I got on it, flicked the stand up and with it running on a fair bit of choke popped it into gear. There was a loud clunk and then as I fed the clutch in the revs just went up. S*d it I thought. Only just got this bike and the gearbox/clutch has gone. Got off the bike to see the chain laying on the floor!!!!!! 8O
Gave it a good look-see and a pair of chain plates (not the rivets) had broken in the middle of the figure-of-eight at the narrowest point. Checked the chain all around and found two others (though not opposite each other) showing similar stress cracks.
I was lucky. That happening while overtaking/cranked over etc doesn't really help your peace of mind.

I saw 33,000 miles plus from the last chain and sprockets.

The key to that was the Scotoiler. Also have one on the TDM and whilst they have their drawbacks, they really do extend chain life IMHO
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

I paid £30* for an 'o' ring 530 chain and it's fine. I know Alan, Bob and Lee use the same.
I know it's a bit of a trek for you, but it's an excuse to get to squires and maybe a few of us meet up ?

Timbo. if you ordered a specific type and they sent another product whith which you dont want.

Simply inform them that they sent the wrong product , they have to refund your money (unless they informed you that they had made changes to your order). and supply postage for you to send it back to them.
