They're different, I know!
1. I normally stick either silkolene pro/comp 4 in my bikes - i've just noticed that they make a 'v-twin' specific oil. Is it any value or should I just stick with what I already know?
2. I can't remember too much about the handling of my last storm - I vaguely remember thinking it could be improved, but that might be me bowing to common consensus. Anyhoo - is it worth putting 15w oil in the forks on the rebuild, or should I stick with the recommended 10w? I'm 14st if that helps anything......

Hi mate,
im being fuelled by smirnoff right now,
but when i was doin my fork seals a while back, im sure my Honda dealer said 5w was standard, so i upgraded to 10w
Best double check though

Can't beat drunk internetting, although drunk eBaying can be lethal......
Looking in the service manual, (great link, btw!), the standard oil is 'Pro-Honda Suspension Fluid SS-8', which seems to be 10w if you google it. There's an SS-7, which is 5w (but wholely irrelevant right now!).

bump... sorry.....
I'm down to less than 30 sodding exam scripts now - should be finished in a few hours!
I'm sat in the office staring at the garage door... the storm is in there, just waiting for some TLC.....
So.... is it worth putting heavier 15w oil in the forks (as an oppose to the standard 10w), or will it fudge the handling?

I always found the Storm a bit under sprung as std so some heavier oil should make sence.
Give it a go and see how you get on if it makes the ride too harsh you can always chage it back again. It's a lot cheeper option than buying new heavier springs and putting a lighter oil in.
