Yellow One Rufforth 02/08 - Hopefully Disaster Avoided!

Post by RedStormV »

Saw yet another zit,

sorry, nice yellow Storm (with yellow screen) on our way into Rufforth today.

Seeing as I still have some of Kitch's 'FireStormUK' business cards left, thought I'd mosey over and pop one on it.

As I approached, guy was just about to pop his helmet on and leave, so collared him, thinking maybe he was a member.

Nope, well not yet anyhow.

Didn't get his name, from Leeds, very tall, I'm 6'1" and he towered above me, fair hair.

Said it was the worst bike he'd ever had for breaking down etc! 8O

Loved the bike actually, just fed up of bits breaking!

Turns out RR went a while ago - "known problem" I told him, "replace with R1 or R6" etc. He'd already bought and fitted an aftermarket 'finned' one.

"Just fixed a rattle on front cylinder last week" he said - I said "known problem" etc.
He said CCT spring had snapped so he'd bodged it ! 8O - now has a rattle from rear cyclinder ! I told him fit manual one, lock it off, replace, or even better log on here and check out the CCT's thread, if only to see that Haynes manual misses important info out.

I asked him if he was going far, as not advisable to ride with CCT's on way out (probably). Find out he's from Leeds, but was going to go out to Devil's Bridge this avo. Strongly recommended just to do the run home and at least check CCT's and this forum before venturing further.

Whoever you are mate, hope you and the bike got back OK and read the stuff on this forum, even if you don't join, but it'd be nice if you did

BTW saw a nice TL1000 there - if I can figure out how to get to the photo's off my phone I'll post 'em

Graeme.
