Having read loads of posts on the shite handlin of the storm,have decided to do something about it.Seems to me everybody agrees about the rear being to hard,even when it is set up on minimum preload,so i guess it just needs a softer spring,as for the rebound damping it seems the stiff spring seems to mask any feeling from it at all.The front end locks up under heavy braking,or when it hits a sharp bump,like there seems to be very little compression damping,or its just crap>What i want to know is what is the best solution for the front,Fireblade forks,or rework.Has anybody used any other front ends,guess the blade fits easily,what parts will i need?Really fancy something different at the front,some usd"s would do

Cheers,so i can take it that the 929 yolks and stem fit straight into the steering head,also does it need to run the 929 front wheel.The spondon clip/ons are there because of fairing clearance issues ? Thanks just trying to figure how many parts i need to source.. :D

yeah the 929 front end bolts right in the only issue you have is a slightly less steering lock to lock as the yokes will just touch the rad hose and the bump stops its not a problem though at all. you can move the rads back by 5mm if you want but to be honest theres no need. the ignition needs shimming to lift it flush with the top yoke just use some alloy spacers, if you do go 929 make sure you use all 929 parts as eveything will fit and theres no messing about trying to get mismatched wheels and yokes to fit the forks. the other issue is the clipons you need some with at least 2.5 to 3 inch rise to clear the fairing i used spondon but theres many others out there such as heli bars but there ugly imo. the best bit is the handling its fantastic and well worth the dollars.

Cheers Ben but its really the 929 im after,am watching some on ebay,just to get a feel for price before i take the plunge.I am still undecided which way to go 929 or rework,although the 929 looks good,depends on money,may take a while.thanks again.

Well, as you've heard the 929 goodness, I'll state the case for reworking.

I have standard forks reworked by Roger The God at Revolution Racing. Cost is about the same as you'd pick up a good deal on all the front end 929 bits you'd need, but these will be fitted and all done.

Advantage as I see it to rework is that you get top spec equipment custom made to you. Revolution fit custom wound springs to suit the Firestorm and your weight and riding style with Rogers own custom valving and set up with all new fluids and shims and all that guff.

Yes, the 929 front end is far superior to the stock VTR one and it looks prettier too, but I think the rework produces results that are tailor made and dont need fiddling with.

IMO if you're prepared for the work the 929 is well worth doing, if you want custom built fantastic road suspension, rework is the way.
Voted most likely to be found dead in park bushes following an act of autoerotic asphyxiation.
