Looks like i will be changing my oil seals this weekend... r/s has blown after too many wheelies at the weekend. :)

So exact ammount would be good for me as well...

Whats the best weight oil to use instead of oem?
So many people say they get better results and handling with a heavier weight.

Alright mozza!
The book says 130mm from the top of the fork leg, without the springs, after pumping the air out slowly by moving the damping rod up and down.

In the same breath it says '450cm cubed', which seems like a Japanese typo. I put 450ml in each leg by loosening the top caps and pouring it past, then moving the damping rod up and down as far as I could. It seemed ok on the ride out!

Standard fluid is definately 10w. Again, I put castrol stuff in, seems good! I also set the forks to the PB guide I have from yonks ago - preload wound in to the second line and the damping 1/4 turn back from fully in.
Perseverance takes too long....

Let me know what seals you have used and how successful they are. Just broke another set.

PKN ones were sh*te

Vesrah were a little better but leaked after a month.

Am buying some for 20 quid - OEM parts off a guy on ebay.
Could be my fork legs so will give them a gentle polish this time.

Will report back when job is done.

My PKN ones are fine, the numbers on top of the seals matched the original Honda parts ,,,,imo the main thing is make sure there is a tension spring fitted to top and underneath of seal.

I agree mate - PKN were really fair and realised they had a batch of sh*te seals. But if they now have the type with two rings (one above and one below) - then there should be no problem.

I'm 99% sure the second set of seals leaked due to some slight pitting on the fork leg. I thought it was outside of the travel but not when pushed hard.

This time i've polished the tubes and hope for a bit more life out of them.

Also will take it easier on the bumpy roads from now on. 8)

Mike,
ive checked haynes manual,it def says 10w fork oil,al;so checked honda service manual on disc, its saying to use Pro-Honda suspension fluid SS-8 ,whatever that is :?
Thing is,as i said before, when i done my seals, my local Honda dealer said standard was deff 5w,i assured him in Haynes manual it says standard was 10w :!: He more or less said Haynes was wrong, and for to go up a weight would be 10w :!:
Mind you ,they did sell me the leaky dodgy seals, and when i complained, and showed them the forks, they agreed there was no damage to the forks which would cause them to leak :!:
