blank odometer

since a long layoff with the battery disconected,the odometer on my 99 firestorm just shows a series of dashes like this ---------
this is with a new battery and ive also checked the fuse in the fuse box too . any one have any ideas?

Err dodmac i've got JS idea why your trip meter's blank but mine keep's blowing the speedo and fec'in rev counter whenever i reset it,so if do you find out let me know please!Cheers,JT

If you mean "blowing" as in fecked then check the voltage on your battery when the bike is running. It may be a sign that your regulator rectifier is on the way out.
