Front paddock stand - what size pin to lift by the headstock

Post by Lucky13 »

Hi guys

I'm after buying one of those front stands that lifts by the headstock. Amongst other things, I want to drop the forks & top yoke out for a re-spray.

Anyone know what size pin the storm requires (bike's not parked up at my house at the moment, so I'm not just being lazy!).

Also, can you lift the bike with the fairing still in place or do they get in the way of the stand?

Advice gratefully received.
It's not how fast you ride, it's how you ride fast.

Hi mate
not sure what size of pin is needed ,but most ive seen for sale comes with a selection of around 3 pins.
I dont have one , bit would imagine the stand would clear the fairing .

Eyup,

I have a headstock / top yoke paddock stand.

TBH unless I was desperate, I'd never use the other 'fork leg' paddock stand I have - way too unstable for my liking, had one or two 'moments'!

The largest pin that comes with 'em fits ok, could actually do with being a size or 2 larger for the Storm stem as they're supposed to be a snug fit. However I've had no problems at all with it. In fact it's been supported by it for last 5 days while I've been doing the rear end etc.

I keep meaning to get a mate of mine to turn me a new correctly fitting pin rather than pay whatever money they want for one, just not got round to it as yet.
Best thing would be to measure across steering tube and then order an additional pin from them at same time as buying the stand, save on postage.

HTH

Graeme.
