Gunk Junk

Post by alan g »

Can anyone recommend a degreaser that is as good as the old Gunk. I recently bought a litre of it and it is not a patch on the old stuff, “environmentally friendly” I suppose! What it managed to clean of the bike it left on the drive.
Any suggestions?

Jizer or paraffin or Mucoff - depends what you're doin

Wouldn't advise using most detergents as they contain salts - ie washing up liquid.

Carwash / shampoo should be OK though.

A friend of mine with classics, never washes them after riding, merely wipes them down with paraffin and / or WD-40 (well in his case TT spray, same stuff). They sparkle and not a sign of rust, anywhere.
