Speedo and rev counter in need of facelift

Hi,

I am starting to get fed up with the 1980's look of the needles on the ' Storms dials. The tooth - pick look really looks dated now IMO. Has anyone modified / cut etc the needles to update them a little ?

Also, is anyone aware if it is possible to buy coloured dials for the 'Storm ? I have noticed that some have white rev counters and mine is black for some reason - was this a factory option when new or something as some have it and some from the same year / model don't. Mine is an 03 model ( think F-3 ).

Could try and get some custom dials made up but not too sure on the needle recalibration try http://www.skewer.co.uk ask for Mook hes the chap who runs it say 7of9 put you in contact for a good price. Think he will need a template or orgional dial face to be sent to him for custom work thou, but yeah can have anything really.

Wondering if nail remover can be used to take the paint off have it clear, then change the bulbs to different colour and or paint needles. Might need to bent the needle up and over the stop then let it settle mark off so you know roughly where it is to go back. Else you are gonna have to use a speed RPM meter to calibrate, unless anyone knows a place point for them.

Mike, will you stop sticking pictures of your SP up..... everytime I see one I immediately, in a fraction of a second, plan saving up for, justify and imagine owning/riding one.......

I HAVE to own one! Planning a blat over to the Alps next summer, it'd be nice if I could sort it out by then! The wife-to-be might have to make a couple of concessions before then, but she'll get over not having a christmas present by June......

Actually, the old needle around the dial is a lot easier to read than a digital 'dash' as you get used to knowing with that slight look where the needles are around the dial and I talk here mainly of the speedo. You actually don't have to so much look as glance/six sense it. It is no coincendence that the revcounters are in an increasing band to give the same effect
Now the digital speedos I have found have to be 'read' so I'm not that great a fan of 'em.

Mind you, my new 1098R will have it so no probs there

Agree with you there LSM but you do get used to them, had 2 or three cars with digi dashes. Carlton, R5 turbo, Uno Turbo I do prefer dials but the 848 dash was lurverly.

I thought the original idea was that of the three gauges (revs, speed, water temp) the revs and water temp were seen as the most important so were white as more distinctive................ well that's what I thought anyway.

Both my dials are black. They are as they came from the main dealer.
