Cheers for the comments chaps
Picked it up last night and did about 70 miles on it in the dark
It's a strange beast, it'll take a while to get used to the gearbox mainly, as it has uber-tall gearing (might fit US gearing if I don't get along with it). As it is, 1st gear is good for about 60-70mph, and cruising along a main road at 30mph the motor is only doing 3000rpm or less, which is odd!! In 2nd at 30 it's basically at idle!
The pipe and motor sound fantastic, it's a more aggressive sound that a harley. Not sure at this point if it's
too loud for day-to-day use, only time will tell.
The handling is gonna take some adjustment too, you can chuck it around nicely even though it's physically quite a large bike but because of the amount of grunt and the gearing I've not yet cranked it over too much. Seems to like you hanging off to help it though. Also it's on Avon Storms which are an unknown quantity for me, I don't know whether they are suited to a big twin and if they are gonna let go. They slid once or twice on downshifts so I need to have more finesse on the clutch I reckon!
The main thing for me is it has character in abundance, and I want a bike that I can tinker with and enjoy modding, much like my old VTR. So it fits the bill nicely
