More power!

Post by Tana »

Hi, friends. :?

These days i put a transmision kit on my storm, with 15/42 sprockets. I wait that this way make me happy with the gas response, but is not sufficient... The first throttle response is good, the bike want to jump forward, but after this first moment, the bike not push like me.

I don't know if i am looking for miracles. Maybe the storm will be ever a "soft" bike (It seems to be that Honda search easy motorcycles for all people type and this is my problem).

Can the storm to turn into a monster in the mid range?? How?? More hp?

I have only arrow cans, without rejetting, not open air filter (i have the original). I don't agree that this is the problem, but i need to know your opinion.

If I obtain that storm push forward how i want, will be have bike for years... The only problem then will be the excesive consumption of fuel but i can live with that.

Thanks very much for all your opinion. I estimate very much everything your answers.

Best regards!!

Tana I think you need to get it re-jetted. Do you have Dyno testers where you live.
I was born with nothing and I still have most of it left.

Tana

It sounds like you are not happy with the lower to mid-range push

The answer is very simple -fit a new free flow filter
I have a Pipercross but to be honest this gives more at the top end as it is a large surface area

My recommendation from personal experience is to get a K&N
The dyno graph below shows a useful comparison

Image

The red line is my bike with Remus road legal exhausts and a pipercross fitted BUT NO REJETTING

The purple line is after it was setup by Roger at Revolution
(it was a bit of a bitch taking 16 runs to setup properly)

The yellow line is my mate's VTR with Art race cans, a K&N and a stage 3 dynojet kit fitted as per dynojets instructions and with no setup whatsoever on a dyno, etc

You can clearly see how much gruntier the yellow line is at the bottom end
and I guess it is this that you are wanting to achieve

As an added bonus these free flowing filters actually IMPROVED the mpg of the bike. Mine consistently goes 120 miles before the red light comes on and that's on a 16l tank not the larger 19l one
I reckon my filter paid for itself within the year

Ben, thanks very much, and to the rest.

The yellow curve is ideal, i can see that in the low/mid range your win 10 extra hp. Excelent. And without dyno sesion, perfect. The dynojet stage 3 is the most agresive, no? the more "racing". I was thinking that for the street (not track) was more appropriatly the stage 1.

I am impressed too with the mph or your bike. I only can 130 km (80 miles) and the red light comes on.... Very much difference with your bike.

I agree that i need a stage 3 DJ and a K&N, then i will be happy. O only need a best gas response. I want that the bike impress me when i roll the trhrottle. The 2000-6000 range is very important to me, i frecuent along secondary roads of second and third gear.

Thanks of new, the information it´s very useful to me. In Spain there are no many storm's and there are little people for ask these questions.

Thx!

"I apologise deep by badly doing that I have done, or personal damage you could have felt"

Well, that's what Alta vista said anyway :o

Finally i bought a k&n and the dynojet stage 1, and i put it follow the roger (revolution) advice respect the adjust of the kit. I don´t have race cans, i have a pair of arrow slip-ons, and i don´t know if i will can the perfect yellow curve that has the Stormin Ben bike. It´s amazing.

This days i will make all, after that a cct´s problem damage my engine (4 valves front damaged), and i wait to resolve my problems about "more power".

Thanks very much for all your advices, and Ben for your good hope to me. (Excuse my bad english, sorry).
