My Bike (love it or hate it) thread from over on SuperHawk

Post by Ratty »

Seeing as someone kindly posted a link to it, and helped me register on here I though it only polite to post the actual thread itself :)

Don't say I didn't warn you :P

I got it cheap as it had been down a ditch, I don't like spending money and needed a bike to ride to a rally 150 miles away so I set-to and fixed it in 3 days using only stuff I had laying around in the shed/garden.

Bike features a CB250 rear lamp and a mini bates headlamp (which sucks), new seat made from the tail plastic from a CB250 rs widened with some tin plate and padded with a bit of sponge mounted on a cutdown rear subframe.

'CUSTOM' PARTS:

Repaired front mudguard that was smashed to bits with some aluminium plate:

And 'stitched' with wire:

Custom 'spacers' were added to take up the slack in the circlip that holds the exhaust on:

Image

Secondary radiator feed blocked off with a 17mm socket and a bolt, bolt leaked like hell so I made a washer from an old bit of innertube. Oil cooler moved to higher position and secured in place with some old wire. New radiator mounts made from a strip of metal laying in the garden:

Airlock removed from rad pipe using tape to pull the pipe lower:

Secondary exhaust pipe capped with a washer and a bit of an old bicycle frame:

Broken brake lever fixed with two bits of plate and a couple of bolts:

Bent gear lever repaired in similar manner:

Back from the dead.

oooo nearly forgot, I've had this fairing laying about for a while, might well end up on it if I can be arsed to fit it. Think MadMax toe cutter and whatnot:

Anyway, that's my bike :)

I wouldn't even sit on it, let alone ride it.

I suspected it might not be strong enough either, but to my supprise I can stand on it and bounce up and down with all my weight with no ill effects, and I can't brake any harder than that even if I wanted to.
Timbo wrote: One question, how do you get an MOT on it? Assuming it is on the road.
I take it to an mot place, like everyone else :P. A lot of people ask me that, more so about my other bike but everything works how it should, so what can they fail it on?

I heard they might be remaking 'Mad Max', you should send them the pics!

Sweet!
So what do you wear riding it? Full Rossi rep leathers?
Black SS stormtrooper coat?
Leather dungarees?

Bet it's the traditional camo pants and black nylon bomber jacket...
(open face matt black and mirror shades compulsory of course).
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
