Any suggestions where to attach engine/crash bars?

Post by Ratty »

The only two mounting points I can find are these, one of which is hardly ideal.

I can't get a lower frame mount as there's no lower frame :/ where do people fit those mushroom things?

What do the bars look like ?? <shrug> supose could drill and tap into the frame to mount as you see fit. or weld on. I'm sure one of the other guys . girls will be able to help you with mounting point suggestions.

Dunno I can't find anything online so I'll have to make some, so it can pretty much be any shape. The ones on my other bike are pretty simple and do a great job of preventing serious damage.

But it utilises a couple of really sturdy engine mounts, which are nice and low, which the storm doesn't have :(

Going by the way you have fixed everything else, just sellotape them on.

Sorry Ratty, i realise that is no help at all. Please dont throw a hissy and leave the forum because of my stupid comments.

If you go forthe rear bolt, that will get in the way of your feet on the pegs wont it? I really cant see how you can fit them without some serious engineering, or superglue.
Oi cheeky git :P I'd be devastated if I scratched my beautiful bike, I'm planning to enter it in the concours section at next weeks bike show :P

Rear bolts not bad clearance wise but it's a bit on the flimsy side, reakon it'd snap off the next time I dump it on it's side :(

Well R&G crash bungs for the Storm come with a replacement engine bolt hence they're a bit more that the cheap shite you get on flebay.

They fit either where your red arrow is pointing, or on the mount to the left of it, above water pump. Can't remember exactly ... R&G sire has pics of them fitted iirc.

IMO very good - thankfully never used in anger.

As Tim says though, why bother? nowt to damage!

Well nothing that a bit of blue tack an old stella tin and some matt black spray couldn't fix :?

R&G all the way.
