Auxilliary Headlights

Post by Kitch »

OK, it's getting that time of year when its dark out.

Although I have projector lights on my Storm, they still amount to the grand total illumination of Victorian Blackpool, pre-electricty. during a high wind, off season.

Suffice to say they're not really up to much cop.

Now, a cunning HID output lamp with a bajillion candlepower might well help, but these aint cheap. Yes, you can get them for less than £100 with everything you need, but then its a home fit job and you can't guarantee the quality. When established dealers cheapest kits are 3 times the price I don't think I trust a Hong Kong alternative to not fry my electrics or blow at the most inopportune moment.

So... I'm currently looking at picking up some auxiliary spotlights.

Potentially these: Demon Tweeks Linky Goodness or similar.

Questions are, has anybody got some? Worth it? Where did you fit them? Know an excellent HID alternative that absolutely wont go pop?

Would they work on a bike that goes over 70 as well?

Check the bottom of this page

http://www.banditmania.co.uk/bellypans.htm

Maybe the SV bellypan with the lights could be made to fit or even one of the others. I have got a pyramid one in the garage universal fit and that looks quite good when offered up to the storm. Will need a bit of cutting and some brakets making but could also add some lights to it.

I had a Hid kit on my storm for a while and it was really good. Turned night into day but been looking at some other lights on e-bay will try and find a link. :D

One of the best places I've come across in my extensive (trust me... it really was) for HID for bikes is hids4u or some such place.

They know their stuff and are very reasonable price wise. They even do proper waterproof bike kits and will send a local rep round to fit it if you like.

http://www.hids4u.co.uk/store/home.php

Considering the price, I may well be getting one of their kits.

I will also be putting a call in to http://www.motosparks.com/ as he's a Firestormer.

I may be fitting some auxilliary spots as well as HID. (I ride a lot in the dark, especially once the clocks go back)

Don't know about HID's but these are very good.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Revolution-Dual-F ... 286.c0.m14

compact units with a separate spot and fog within the unit and are actually a metal body not plastic as the advert states, got 4 of them on my off-roaders light bar.
