Buell XB12

Post by Beamish »

Took a test ride on one of these beasts today.

1. Great chassis, if fact brilliant and would be a close run comp against the Street Triple

2. Excellent brakes

3. Good Vtwin sound but sh*te engine. Not much low down grunt with a flat mid section then a lump of torque for the last 2K up to the limiter.

4. Pretty good gearbox and clutch set up

Quick short gear changes and keeping the revs below 5K gave a reasonable ride but the Storm would leave it trailing over just a short distance. The chassis gave great confidence and you would struggle to keep with it on the twisties. The salesman said that most owners tune the engine with the satge 1 Buell kit but I want a good package from new.

Twas one of these and unless the model I tested had a dodgy motor there is no way it would pull the 150mph that MCN quoted.
