Hi mate
I oiled and made slight adjustment, it helped a bit, but i eventually removed both the large hooks ander the seat,it made things much easier :D :!:
Try a search, seat removal, or , seat hooks, the info should be there.

On mine the hooks were swapped round, ie left to right and right to left. It saves the fiddling about if you have a grab rail fitted.

Cheers

I was shown a really quick way to get it off.

Rotate key while pulling up on the rhs of the seat, this should pull it off the latch but still be attached.

Pull the seat back and give it a swift knock on the part of the seat where it rises up the the pillion part. The knock should lift it off no problems.

Mine takes no less than 20 seconds using this technique.

Will see if I can stick up a youtube vid to show you how.

EDIT:

Youtube link (according to youtube, still being processed, should be on shortly)

Not sure how to embed it in this forum, perhaps someone who does can

Pretty much what Ernie said, but less than 20 seconds.

Turn key while lifting rear edge of seat disengages latch, release key, then just tug seat backwards and upwards - simple when you get the knack

I kinda do the same thing but press the seat down in the middle near the pillion cover but lifting at the back, both pulling backwards. This gives a little more space for the lugs to pass under the hooks, also press down in that spot to fix, kinda angle also.

After a lot of playin' about with a nylon hammer to tap the frame mounted lugs and other 'adjustments' etc mine is now just a case of turn the key. HOLD it still turned and pull from left side of bike with left hand and the seat comes off absolutely no problem. I used to have to knock it like Ernie does but not now after the adjustments. :D

Just put a couple of washers under the screws that hold the hooks.
I was born with nothing and I still have most of it left.

personally i think its all in the way you remove it...i use the wiggle technique. As you turn the key, put your right hand on the back of the seat and lift upwards untill the catch just comes undone and then put your hands either side of the seat around where your elbow would sit and yank backwards.

OK, here's my method:
While turning key with left hand, standing on the left-hand side of the bike,
grab the bit of the seat which would go under you right thigh and tug backwards.
This releases the seat from the hooky things and makes it easy to pull backwards and off using both hands after releasing the key.

I haven't got a YouTube video, I'm waiting for the Police to release it to the press.............
