Just Like Bikes ;-)

Post by Beamish »

Are there any other forum members who just love all bikes? Although there are bikes I dont like aesthetically I am just a bikeophobe. I bought the Blade because it is supposed to be "the bike of the twentienth century" in fact I would buy and ride most bikes if I had the cash just to see if they were my 'cup of tea'. I would need at least a 50 ft garage to house my top choices. I am a man that likes to be proved wrong, I love Ducatis but have not owned one because of cost ( I will buy one soon) I must own a KTM Superduke before I die because it looks right. The latest Blade is all parts of all bikes (just read PB or MCN) The SP isnt the best bike in the world but at some point I will own an SP2 because it is a massive part of Biking history. TDR250  love em owned a TZR250 but loied the TDR if I have the chance I will bag one.

Anyone else as messed up as myself?

Probably not quite as messed up as you Jim

I love on road & off road bikes of all era's and from most nations.

I do draw the line at HDs & Cruisers - just don't like 'em, never have, never will. Also dislike most BMW's but the 'Long Way Round' types are growing on me.

Other than that, I'd ride just about anything, faired or un-faired and regardless of CC. I love the occasional blast on wor lass Aprilia RS125 - it's sooo nimble and easy to ride round twisties.

I do tend to lean towards bikes that have 'soul' however, ie Singles, Twins and Triples. That said, I have and will ride IL4's just prefer the others.

If I can draw enough brass together, I've currently got me eye on a BSA RGS (well, frame engine and front end) - Love old Brits, no matter what anyone says about them or the rep they rightly have.

If it wasn't for British bikes, there'd be no Japanese bikes - well not like they are now anyhoo. Look at a lot of the 'modern' inovations on Jap and Italian bikes, most of these ideas are not new at all and have already been used 50, 60, 70 years ago on British bikes - we are the true inovators - the Japs just know how to make 'em work better

To me a car is just a necessary evil to get from A to B, purely a workhorse. If I didn't have to carry dogs, double bases and diving gear about I'd certainly have to think seriously about having one.

Think you're slightly off with you history mate, wasn't it the SP1 that was the Duc beater, although I must admit I prefer the looks of the SP2 to the SP1 myself - but wouldn't kick a 1 outa bed!

Just my thrupence

Hired a TDR250 in Thailand for 5 days 8) God I love that bike. great fun and would help me keep my licence if I could bag a good one. TBH it rode better than my TZR (not reversed cylinder model) in fact I could probably have ridden it faster on a road (not track though).
So Mike are you confessing to be a Bikeophile?

I can even see the point of cruisers :? but would buy a Tiger, Bonneville, Guzzi or classic Jap over a HD anyday of the week

well for me not bothered if it has 1 2 3 or il4 love em all, and really like classic old british bikes, but like most of you i just cannot get me head round cruisers, might as well put 2 wheels on your favourite armchair and yeah if me wallet was bigger and fuller i would have as many bikes as i could

I'm with Sparrowlegs on this,if i'd the cash i'd have a few bikes, but i dont ,so,ive just got the one

Im 44 now and passed test at 17,have had a few over the years ,basically i like all bikes, but have never had a cruiser, but wouldnt rule one out at some point, well maybe not a full on cruiser, but certainly a Rocket 3 ,or Thunderbird Sport type, also there's a big Guzzi in my village,a Griso 1100 ,smart as fek imo, but i suppose none of these are cruisers in the true sense.

Also i like v-twin characteristics,but to me they are deff not as pleasing on the eye as a 4 cylinder,In days of old,if ye saw a big 4cylinder engine,or a 6 (cbx)you'd say WTF 8O  .

At the end of the day, a bike is a bike, ive mentioned this before on here about a guy at work with the scooter,(Suzuki Burgman 650)i got talking to him in the bike shed and asked him if he had never fancied gettin a motorbike, turns out he's had Blades, gsxr's the lot

Like FSM I got started at Lightwater valley on the Italjets when there were only a few pigs and cows then the bikes going round bails of hay 8)

Fook, I wasnt suggesting the SP2 was a history maker just that I would go for one over a 1 . As some of you know I am going to spend some of my demob money on some new/a new bike (even though the cars are fooked and the mortgage is immense  ) but been a bikeophile I dont know which way to go, I spend nights thinking about it (steady you sickos  )

Its between a KTM superduke 990 plus another bike

Ducati 848 top money and would skint me

SP2 plus one bike

and a million other ideas that come and go PB have just written a column on the new blade that basically says its is everything and more would I be foolish not to consider it? Anyhoo only about 870 days until spend time

No one favorite bike, two wheels and corners, sticky tyres do it for me, cheap on a bike cost a fortune on four wheels.

Two wheels rule
