That just love bikes 'problem' gets worse.

Well I liked the look of it so........................................ had to have it!!!
Have always fancied a 916, but reading up on them these 748's are much underated and are a better track day bike so they said due to the revability (!) of 'em. They'll rev to the 'redline' of 11,000 rpm but can be pushed through to 13,000 if only occasionally!!!! Starts to stress the desmodromic valve gear a bit if regularly hammered to those heady rev heights.

Not as rattly as some 'cos the fully enclosed clutch cover stops most of the noise (but certainly not all).

These 'L' twins look great IMHO. Iconic shape. Thought it was going to cripple my wrists/arms but only about as 'bad' as the VTR for me.
That means Snipper and I have them. Anyone else?

Like the dry clutch noise tbh (not on some duc's-it sounds painful...)

My dads Guzzi has a dry clutch and it's quite satisfying to hear (in a funny way?!) at standstill.

Beamish. It wasn't bl%dy clean, but is now.

I wore out two toothbrushes cleaning this one!!!

It has fairly high mileage but a full service history by the Ducati dealer that supplied the bike originally (Snells of Alton, Hants). Had the all important timing belts changed back in April '08 and has the remaining part of a Ducati warranty 'till April 09. Only had one owner and his only transport so well used which is better than one just sitting around etc.

I added the white number board at the front to match the Monoposto seat unit. I also have the Biposto original seat unit and rear footrest hangers in my loft now! I modified the wiring loom with an eBay purchased bypass lead. The bike originally couldn't be started unless it had the stand up. Now it'll start on the sidestand but the engine will stop if you put it into gear with the stand down.
I also fitted a larger contact area on the sidestand as the original is a dreadful size and a disaster waiting to happen.

Looking good LSM

Went out with a mate who had one earlier this year and it was lovely chasing it through the country side. The only advise I can give on it is to get the suspension properly set up. They are a bit too hard for the road and as soon as you get to some bumpy stuff they become a real handfull and dead uncomfy.

Well I've only ridden it a bit but it seems pretty good as it is set-up for soft rear end which in Ducati terms is like about medium for everyone else. Obviously some playin' to be done though of course!!!
Yeah, billiard table type roads suit these bikes as race track set-up.

A personal thing I guess, but I wouldn't want to lose the engine braking myself, for me that's one of the beauties of a good size twin pot

Probably more use on the track than anything

I really miss my slipper clutch had them on most of my bikes inc the supermotos - I find I'm locking up the back and backing it a few too many times on the VTR - does anyone do one for the VTR?

You know you want it LSM - if you don't like it sell it again they hold the money well

my bro in law picked up a 916 couple of weeks back, had a go this week and loved it, goes round corners like its on rails!! sounds like a fecking tractor tho with open clutch

Think my closed casing may stay for a while, but lots of Ducati riders love that clutch noise (rattle) as a sort of 'badge of honour' !!!
