I've got a new rear sprocket (+ 2 teeth) which i'm gonna fit...
.. now people say that if you change sprockets you should change the chain too. What do you lot think?
New rear sprocket (+2 teeth)... new chain too?
Re: New rear sprocket (+2 teeth)... new chain too?
That rule-of-thumb only really applies if your chain and sprockets are worn out, as fitting new sprockets to a well stretched chain will only accelerate the wear on your new sprockets, which will shorten their lives and visa-versa (new chain on old sprockets)JohnD wrote: .. now people say that if you change sprockets you should change the chain too. Providing your existing chain and sprockets are in reasonable condition you should be fine with just renewing the rear sprocket.
