This is all still fresh on my noggin mate,as for timing just follow Chris's info,
other than that with the head off,mine took out the guides on both damaged valves(that bumped the bill up nicely),as for the shimming thats the only bit i didnt take a chance on,i gave that to the local(45 miles away)honda dealer,finding the right sizes(f**k it let them sort it)& messing about wasn't worth the hassle.
I wouldn't worry to much about the chain(don't mean to sound to complaicent)but it hasn't got any where to go really,you'll know when your refitting if its trapped any where,stick a cable tie round it just incase,then obviosly to some thing sound like the dog or the missus
