Shower of shite ins co called me this morn to arrange pick up of bike, I politely told them 'no you wont be picking it up until I receive an offer as I have already stated that I wish to buy the salvage...'

I have just called the ins co & after explaining all again for the 3rd time was cut off after spending 5 mins on hold!

GGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Did they get to inspect the bike at Tony's at a more civilised hour?

Apparently they have, he locked it up out the front with a cover over it & someone has taken off the cover & couldn't be arsed to put it back as they had found it, so we'll assume that yes they have looked at it.

So yesterday on my bloody birthday no less I went up to Kings Collage Hosp again for the follow up post op for me wrist.
In the op I needed to have a new larger custom made Ti plate to replace the one put in first time & have the wrist realigned as it was dislocated.

The old plate looked like this...

The new one looks like this...bigger plate more & longer screws...

Both these pics were x rays taken during the op BTW.

So I'm talking to the consultant & he says 'Plan for today is take off the dressing & have a look at the wound, put another cast on then get some x rays & have a look. I'm looking at the cast only being on for a couple of weeks at most.'

Good news thinks I, so I asked him how long after the cast is off will I be looking at before going back to work ?

'Oh at least 2 months it's a very bad injury & it will take at least that long to get the strength back...' he says. (Looking forward to telling me manager this later on today...   )

I also asked him about weather it had needed a bone graft during the op, which he confirmed adding that they used a piece off the self, in other words from a donor...not content with having a bionic wrist I have a bionic alien wrist to boot ...

So off I go to have the dressing removed...

It's not nice look away now if your squeamish or eating breakie...

I did warn you...

Now it don't look right does it ? & that's not the gory one!

This is the gory one...

:eek2 :sad2

It's not as bad as it looks really, the wound it self is ok but each side of it blisters have formed & burst in the week since the op, apparently this is not unusual, I did wonder why it felt a bit uncomfortable & squishy over the last few days...

Anyway it would seem that the wrist is STILL not in the correct place it is still slightly dislocated, so the up shot is that I have another trip up to Kings next week for another procedure to realign the wrist & put some wires in to hold it in place, bung a cast on & send me home all on day surgery either Mon or Weds. He said it has to be done ASAP & when they take the cast off they will 'wiggle the wires out...' Sounds comfy don't it !

Oh & just to complete things here are the X-rays taken yesterday.

Mac, I had a bone graft on my left wrist some 30 years ago, it is and after healing been the better of both wrists.. good luck with the healing process, give it chance to do its magic and don't rush it, its a long time wrong and they cannot redo it if you screw it up by using it to early. (voice of experience) :(
