Nope. Still running like a bag of steaming shite...
Even stripped and cleaned carbs. All hoses are fine.

It's bloody lethal. it just wants to cut out all the time at low revs so you gotta bomb the throttle and slip the clutch to pull away then higher revs its just boggy and powerless...
then when you want to creep up to a junction or ride slowly it just cuts out and tries to dump you on the road.

Going to set fire to it.

Was it running fine before you tinkered around?

Can you recap what you did again i.e. CCTs etc. and where is you located as someone adept with the Honda hammer special tool might be near to you to knock it back in shape...

yeah was running peachy before.
I just whacked manual cct's in and set the chain slack to 6mm.
the timing is definitely spot on, I double checked it again last night.

I really dunno what is going on :(

Did you have spark plugs out? (lead firmly connected?) Airbox back and hoses back correctly? Vacuum hose back on the right place?

Front vacuum take off. Yes that will cause the bike to run like sh1t if leaking enough. This should either be capped off or have a vacuum take off hose running from it and capped off at the end.

Something you should consider while you in there.
How to balance your carbs

The rear cylinder will have one of these already as this is where the petcock get's it's vacuum feed from. It's worth double checking that hasn't popped off that end and that it runs to the spigot to the side behind the fuel line on the petcock, not the spigot at the bottom that points downward.

Longshot but easy to rule out, HT leads...make sure these are secured down all the way. The front can take a bit force and a wiggle for it to click right down into place fully sometimes. This would cause erratic running/misfires and maybe the odd backfire.

Other than that I would be concerned that the timing is not correct. The symptoms you describe are exactly how the bike would behave if you did not turn the full 1 1/4 turns anti clockwise and stopped on the first time FT comes into view when moving from the rear cylinder to the front. Note if you was going from the front to the rear it would only be 3/4 turn (270 degrees), so start from the rear on the compression stroke. Cam lobe positions are the give away here. Talking about cams...you haven't had them out for any reason have you?

Thing is i've not changed the timing and nor have I had the cams out.
But yeah when I was checking the timing the rear cylinder were pointing up and in and the front were pointing up and out.

After watching ck work away on his bike and I made the tea it's really inspired me to get cracking on with the track engine :-)
Going to finish stripping it down tomorrow and get the bits ordered Monday morning and hope to have it finished by end of January and ready to fit into kermit for running in :-)

Engine stripped down and part number written down . I'll order what I can when I can afford them as it's looking like a £300 parts bill :-( but it'll be like new but with more power when built :-)

Primed and coated in Black the replacement left fairing panel. If it wasn't so dark outside I would have had the lacquer on too. That will have to wait until tomorrow now. I hate the fact it gets so dark so soon, it really shortens what can be achieved in a day.
