Rode a stock silver storm and mine back to back, the stock one is a customers bike I've been doing up after 10 years off the road (5000 miles only) I wasn't going to thrash it but tried some things, The silver one pulls very similar to mine from the same revs, it has noticeably more vibes higher up the revs, also a resonance noise from the front of the bike whilst riding, mine doesn't do it, sounds like road noise, nothing's loose or rattling, tyre is Bridgestone S20 evo and brand new, strange !. couldn't get to my private test track so top end won't be tested. all in they feel similar as far as engine goes, still got to balance carbs on the silver one but mine feels better, only mod is Micron pipes as far as engine goes..
Handling, the silver one feels fine, it's all standard, fork damping feels good, infact front end didn't feel soft although it does have 41mm static sag, rear shock firm... Mine feels sharper and better, Penske shock, k tech fork springs and forks through 5mm, static sag is 27mm.
I thought I'd take some measurements.
Standard bike rear sag 7mm, mine has the same although I'd set it to 12mm then added 3/4 turn the other day (wouldn't have thought that was 5mm ?)
My bike measured 6mm higher from end of swingarm to tail piece
Front end: mine sits a bit higher at the front even though it's dropped 5mm.
All round the standard bike rides ok but mine is much improved and will improve even more with some set up. Another thing I noticed was the standard bikes handlebars made my hands ache a bit, I have F2 bars on mine and happy to have compared them now and know it's the right choice.
Whilst bouncing mine up and down I could hear a clonk, I can feel it through the frame, tank, shock, I've checked everything is tight, I think it might be something to do with the shock

will have to remove it and inspect, can't think what it could be ?. the shock linkage is touching the exhaust when at rest but it's not that, when you go full extention you can hear that touch, it's a different sound. think I might shorten the shock to give a fag paper of clearance though.
I had a play with the rear shock adjusters, these Penske's are strange compared to other shocks, the bike has been handling well but wallows a little on some bumps, it felt very comfortable and I couldn't feel many bumps. I adjusted the damping but it seemed to have little effect even wound fully in, I was thinking it was broke but then I adjusted the compression and again at first it seemed to make no difference but then after a few minutes it felt a lot firmer, Rode it home like that and no it's no longer comfortable, I can feel the bumps

Nice and flickable though, I'm not going to ride it again now until I can find the clonk as I'm a bit concerned, might have to put the standard shock back in to see if clonk goes..
