Er, it actually ran s***e !
Looking forward to my first proper ride out for 3 weeks, on the way to meet up place, bike ran rubbish !!
seemed to be ok on acceleration but cruising, surging, carb farting, engine running a lot hotter than normal
so we turned the day into a garage day, retimed the engine (oops)
also found the front carb manifold not quite seated right which I think was the main problem,
now , wooosh, runs beautifully, thanks steve for your help, you do know your stuff !!

another 230 miles today. I met a bloke with a Kwak SX1000. Wow nice bike, seems extremely quick but longer than my CB. We did a quick 2 mile swap, the bikes far more sort of "Raw" compared to mine, but it had a step at 6000 where as mine is smooth all through. It was faster top end but turned a bit wider probably to the length. I didn't like the suspension though, far too hard. Loved the 2-4 stubby cans but so quiet though.

he though mine was quick up to 110 but only revs to 11000! his did 12500.

I wouldnt swap the CB though. I was amazed he was happy to have a swap.

we took it quite carefully we had a good chat before hand etc. Ive seen the guy before but he was on a Triumph that i had. I did know where he lived just in case. He thought mine was "Flighty and waggled a bit" it does, i like that though.

Hello Kev how's things mate? I've been reading your posts over the past couple of weeks with great interest glad its all sorted now and yes your right steve deffo knows his stuff .I've also been messing with mine lol mainly fitting wheel decals etc cleaning lol next time your out give us a shout thanks mate

Turned it over.

Doesn't sound like much but a couple of weeks ago the starter motor wasn't even clicking. Went through all the fuses, ground connection then remembered that the seat has a sensor on it connected to the alarm. Seat on and bingo.

The battery died before it fired up but a quick charge and it should run tomorrow. Is there a more battery friendly way of filling the carbs other than holding the starter button down?

Yes.
Put a syringe on the vacuum line that goes to the 90 degree position on the fuel tap and pull the plunger out. That opens the tap and fuel flows to the carbs.
But even with empty carbs it should only take three or four seconds fir one, then the other to fire.

Ta. I'll check the fuel tap and plugs then try that. It was turning over for longer than a few seconds.

O took it out the Garage along with everything else and got the carpet down. I need to sort all the bits tomorrow but please with it so far.

All the toolboxes are down 1 side. All the expensive tools locked in a metal cupboard, Bike gear hung up and the Pushbikes moved to the other side.

I've still got car port and i can get the bike round the back and into the conservatory if needed.

Washed it at the weekend and it is looking very, very good.
