what have you done to your "bike" today

raised my needles and unblocked the slide life hole as it was un-ridable .
took it out for a test all is good but now needs a clean

Removed LH switchgear, cleaned and packed with vaseline! Hopefully high beam switch will stop sticking now... Any other advice for that?

Went to work on it yesterday, 32 miles at 0 deg (5 am) wasn't comfortable, even with heated grips. Nice sunny ride home at 2pm made up for it though

Didn't use any laquer just good old hammerite smooth. Also the Nissin just came up like that when I cleaned it. If you strip your calipers the best product I found to clean them is wonder wheels. Be warned though its about £50 for new seals.

Anyway, 12 sockets are big and clucky, as are the plugs, and they rattle loose. A USB locks in far firmer. I've done this mod to the car too, mounted a USB socket in a blanking plate, works great. It just needs a 5v regulator and a little capacitor.

Anyway, that job is easy, compared to the package I received today...



No idea what these bits are for! (Update, worked it out, they're key adapters for mounting the original key onto the alarm fob).

And the usb, that's a genius idea. Only one problem though, the one you have is an Iphone only device

Disconnecting the power on this one won't help either, it's got battery backup! Anyway, no, it doesn't go "beep" all the time. I've got the super secret installers manual, so I know how to change the program. The manual says "enabling arm/disarm beeps is strictly forbidden in Europe"... Really? Since when? My car certainly goes beep beep, so I think my bike will go beep too.

£120+vat from Bikers Discount Store and the fun of fitting it myself is way better than £400 fitted price... Not sure what I'm going to do with the registration doc though, it wants details of the fitter :-(

Now where should I put the flashing LED... I quite fancy the idea of using the fuel level warning LED on the clocks, that would be neat... Hmmm... Oh well, I have a spare set of clocks (somewhere!), time to find them and pull them apart... and make another cuppa tea!

I was not talking about the enabling/disabling. Some of them you switch on, walk away from the bike and they beep every minute or so untill you switch the ignition on! And yeh, since when

On mine the led is fitted (not by me) on the rear panel, right hand side, next to the seat lock. Alright for someone to see from behind and it's in quite a well positioned place. I personally would have that one and another up front incorperated into the clocks somehow.

As far as getting you paperwork stamped, you need to go to an authorized fitter (as you are not ) and explain to them you know what you are doing as a fully qualified electronics geek. Let them have a quick look over what you have done, get them to sign it off, stamp you paperwork and give a drink Sorted.

Installed some relays for the twin headlights that are now running mega high output (off road only ) bulbs...should be able to see at night now
Also put the super bright leds somebody on here recommended for the clocks, makes a massive difference

Well I've continued my alarm mission tonight. Having spent last night staring at a too small wiring diagram for the bike I decided to go and see what things look like in reality... so first step, rip the back end apart (again!).



Second step, start opening up the loom very carefully with a knife...



And then try to identify the wires! The cable ties you see there are round specific wires (or pairs) as I identify them.
This is just the first venture, I've got other wires to find which is going to entail adventures into other parts of the loom, and further down this one... Be afraid, be very afraid!

thats good buddy, i would say thats a very tricky thing to wrap, lots of angles to deal with, what would you score it from 1 to 10?
if you laquer it, it seems to shrink/tighten a little, which is ok but it will highlight any creases, on the plus side 4 or 5 coats will give it a nice deep glossy carbon look, just don't get to close with the laquer, i think the halfrauds stuff is good, i didn't like the simonz laquer tho.....
oh and only real men can get away with chameleon wrap, NOT PINK!!!!!

cheers mate im going to have a go at laquering it later today,it was very difficult with all the curves and thers a couple of creases but you wont really notice them being at the bottom of the bike,id score it around a 5 could be better but iff i try it again it could be even worse,ill let you no how i get on with it
