pop into sykes motorcycles in pontefract n take a peek at the 51reg turquoise storm he has in the shop...not sure how much it is but he's had it a while now so mite be open to haggle on the price alittle.

I had a shufty at this today. Looks to be in reasonable condition but I asked the mileage and he said, its either 11 or 17. Aaaalrighty then.....

Looks in reasonable nick if anyone fancies a Teal one. Not for me though, hurt my eyes.

Oh and he wants £2400 for it. Sounded like patchy service history in terms of stamps, he said that they had been servicing it at Sykes for a number of years for a local owner.

Mileage was probably because he wasnt sure if it was recorded on the clock in miles or KM. Clock probably said 17k but if that was in KM, then that would only be 12.5k miles?

£2400 sounds a lot again...I wouldnt pay that much for a storm, in fact, I also wouldnt buy a bike from a dealer. You pay way over the odds and in reality get no better product. Yes you get a sort of 'warranty' but I wouldnt count on most dealers honouring it, unless you took them to court over it.

Private is definitely the way to go. If you arent in a rush to get one, you are definitely in the driving seat and can afford to be choosy and get one at the right price.

Hey guys..

I found this:
http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bikes ... GN-7561705

Looks decent. Hope the guy calls me back. Seems like a good price and I suspect its only 1 owner. Mileage is on low side for year, but not too low, suggesting summer use only.

Phoned a dealer down in Kent, had a Firestorm in with 4 previous owners for £2.5k and no service history....the prices seem to vary wildly!

Its all interesting stuff and I think it'll be worth the wait.

That's better :-)

2003 model for less money, and a nice colour too. I do like that blue.

Waiting on the guy to call...

I just found a bike thats from 1999. 24,000 miles. £2100.

9 owners!! I think thats the most I've ever seen on a vehicle. Talk about a lemon.....

I don't know whether you've seen them but there are a few reasonable looking Storms on Autotrader online at the moment.
Might be worth a butchers.

Yes mate, I've had a look through every single one. Enquired about 1 of them. Most are quite far away though.

I've tried to take on board what everyone has said but every time I look at a bike for sale, Im staring at the exhaust pipe coming out of the manifold and they all look "rusty". I've found a few that dont but they are all over 3k.

I'm probably looking at entirely the wrong thing. I'm a really choosy person when it comes to things like this. I got caught out previously on vehicles so I'm a tiny bit nervous :D

Its still fun though :)

I'm sure they had that one up for sale when I was looking for mine back in February.

your going to end up going bike blind mate, you will have so many choices that you wont be able to make one and end up buying one just for the sake of it, there are some lovely looking storms out there between £1200 and £2000 and as long as the main issues are sorted you wont have anything to worry about, plus with all the guys and gals on here you'll never be stuck for a part or help.

You're very right alec, I always had this problem with cars too. Trying to decide is impossible when it comes to vehicles, fortunately, its only vehicles which give me this problem...!

Just like Alec said really. Set yourself criteria and only look at those bikes ie under a certain mileage, late model or even a set colour(s). Don't go crazy the right bike will pop up.
