Personaly i used to wheelie all the time off the clutch from realy slow or speed ones too, grab some revs dip the clutch and let it out you get a feel for it,

i can change gear from 1st to seccond in a wheelie or i used to be able to last year might have to practice again at work

my maddest wheelie was around 70 + mph almost flipped it that time the wind makes a massive difference at that speed under the bike

i think this is why my first engine is wombles as it used to get wheelies every day at on the way to work, down the truck strip at work and again from the truck strip

My dad caught me pulling a wheelie when i was out on a ride with him, i thought he was to far infront to notice but he did gave me a right clip round the ear

since ive had this new engine in ive not pulled a wheelie

is it possible that pulling wheelies via the clutch all the time is what shagged the last engine suddenly loading the engine up?

Prolonged or constant wheelies starve the front portion of the engine of oil...what made the last engine go bang?

I'm sh1t at wheelies although on the DR can can launch in 2nd and go through to 4th but not consistently.

I flipped a storm doing a wheelie :redface But I did learn a lot. Especially "Don't let go of the handlebars if you think it's going too high" as it probably isn't as high as you think.

The BMW I have to launch in 1st and 1st to 2nd is something I won't do as I don't have the balls to do it. I can't launch it in second with the current gearing. Not even if I red line it and dump the clutch.

The bandit was great to wheelie but again I launched in first. I managed to change to 2nd a few times but the anti flip stick on the back kept getting in the way. I once managed to catch neutral and came down so hard the exacerbated the crack the bike already had in the frame. Not good. 8O

This year I am concentrating on trying to master slow stand up wheelies on the DR. Lets see how that goes!!

The wheelie art needs to practiced at ,
or you will flip it or get a massive tank slapper if you come down to fast.
practice on an old bike before you get the knack ,(each bike is different) ,beware before hoisting your shiny VTR.
after learning on an old bandit or something similar

good tip ,gear front sprocket so it lifts easier .
find out were the power comes in on yer rev counter ,shut power of ,then snap it open to the point when the power comes in , hey hey up she goes, needs a bit o practice to get the same point perfectly each time.

watch out for arm pump ,it feks up ya grip/strength after a a couple of hours if ya not bike fit.

Elvington old airport (york) good for practising on if yer live up north, you can hire the place for the day ,get ya mates to share the cost ,take plenty petrol,

it wont take ya long to wheelie well past the ton .when ya kahonies grow a bit.

we took a barby n made the day out of it .

take care now boys ,ya bend it ,its your responsibilty :Coke: its a cracking buzz when ya get it right.

I wonder how easy it would be to do that on my DR?

Any thing can be made to fit. Your d.r should be ok to run a handbrake set up.
I got brembo lever to fireblade caliper
Not had chance to use it yet. Mot/tax blah blah

Burnout vid is only one I got I would like to post up.

I found a thread on the adventure forum how a guy has done this on a dr350. He has done it to help tackle hill rise/descents and right hand bend where you could do with your right foot on the ground and still have access to your rear brake. Just waiting to hear back on what bits he used. It seems he hooked it into the existing claiper some how so no need for a second caliper (saving weight  ) Fingers crossed, its easy :)
