Meet & Ride - 6th July - Tamworth to Aberystwyth
Re: Meet & Ride - March 23rd 2013 - Tamworth
Okay, so what I can work out from this is that there is one person who is always/mostly at the back of the pack.. And if you know the person behind you hasn't got eyes on you (or you them) you wait at the exit/turning or whatever so they know where you are and then you pull out behind them as they go past? Or in front of them if you can/they allow you too?

There's two fixed riders the lead rider and the rear rider .
We use the 2nd man system .
That means the 2nd man when prompted by the lead rider will wait at the junction until the rear rider is behind them . And then pull out safely in front of the rear rider .
This way no one should get lost and everyone takes there turn .

marking system has various names, but i call it 2nd man drop off.
there is a designated leader and a designated backmarker, you never overtake the leader and the backmarker will never overtake you....in between that you can move forwards or slip backwards as your own comfort zone dictates
when you come to any junction the leader will point to the roadside and the 2nd man will stop there indicating the direction the rest need to follow and he will not move till he sees the back marker comes intop view, rejoining the convoy now as 2nd last.
if there is no 2nd man the leader waits till some one arriives, if the backmarker doesnt show up the marker stays in position and waits, eventually this wlll cause the leader to run out of markers and he will stop and then retrace his steps to find the problem [or phone the back marker].
is easy once you see it working and as long as you dont leave people at the petrol station it works well

Okay :L Yeah, seems like a good and easy to use system. Thanks
I'm guessing the rear marker is usually the odd bike out to make it easier to recognise them?

we take turns, but it does help if there are a few distinguisng features.............as shown by Benny when he managed to mistake a BMW GS12 for a BMW GS650 and leave his marking position before the last 4 people had arrived.

No just messing :-)
Re: Meet & Ride - March 23rd 2013 - Tamworth
I was gonna say
I would rather have a V2 than an IL4 but I didn't get much choice on my first bike, it was forced upon me by my family.. And the VTR was too expensive to insure with no no claims D:
