I don't think it quite works like that. If Foggy was more comfy on one more than the other then he may be able to push it harder. It's not only the power but the handling as well. Both bikes are totally different animals. You would be better off comparing something that compete against each other like a Ducati versus an SP. Something in a similar/same class. I think Foggy would prefer the Duke and would possibly be faster on that. :)

Here's an easy way to take a test ride of the SP2 during all the snow and ice :p

Imagine you had an SP1 and a Honda Fireblade lets say the a 1998/9 version because it would be unfair to put an SP up against a new Fireblade, carl forgerty was cloned and so each had fogey riding them, they were on the start up line equally at brands hatch, how would the race go.

Remember this is about which is the best, I'm just interested because they are both " proper " sports bikes. Both bikes are standard out of the crate as well.

This is still not easy to say, I don’t think you realise how different these machines are, and you’re still not telling us what you intend doing with it.
Going off what you’ve posted I’d say that if both bikes were taken straight out of the crate.
The FireBlade would be a lot comfier and better on the A and B roads, oh and also the motorway, you’d be amazed how comfortable that era of FireBlade is considering it’s a sports bike, it can be thrown around bends for fun as though it was a 600 in it's day, I can ride mine all day long without any problems what so ever, also further to your question, don’t forget that many years ago some FireBlades were taken straight out of the crate and raced round the Isle of Man.
The SP is designed to go on the circuit, the build (just look at the swinging arm) geometry, suspension brakes and handling is very different, probably the most important difference being the geometry, you'll soon notice the faster you go on an SP the better it becomes so therefore would be better on the circuit, or fast medium / long bends on A roads, but at a price, not as comfy, many people give up on SPs because of the discomfort, I'm 5'-9" with a 30" inside leg, so personally I don't have a problem, but I believe taller/longer legged riders do.
There tends to be a lot of SP1 and SP2s with low millage but quite a few owners simply because people read how good they are, buy one and then find out they just can't ride it.
If you go from an in line 4 to a V Twin, you have to learn again and change your style of riding, if you go to an SP you have to change and learn yet again, trust me or it WILL end in tears.
Finally spares for the older FireBlade are reasonably priced and plentiful, this not the case for SP parts, they are rare and very expensive.

another major difference between the sp and the blade.....

i know a fair few people (me included) who have thrown their sp down the road and escaped with only bodywork damage.... compared to if you drop a fireblade its fooked beyond repair.
nothing to do with how quick they are...they are so lightly constructed its untrue, but that's what you get if you want a lightweight rocket competitive in today's IL4 market.

the sp1 &2 build quality is like no other bike ive ever seen. simples

I So want an SP 1 or 2. When I have the funds that will be my next bike for sure. I have always liked them since before I got the Storm. It was just finances and insurance that stopped me getting one. I would still keep the Storm though as a second bike. Every time I see pics of the cheeky SP I crave. Gorgeous bike, though It's always been my dream to have the Standard Red SP1 that won all the races. It could even be a collectors item, classic bike because of the SP's history on the track.

What are the upgrades Honda made with the SP2 from the 1?

If you go for the RSV, I hope you're tall and have got long legs.
