As ex-owner of "naked" bike

Post by bluesman »

Well, I always used to have "naked" bikes in past, so - I hope it'll be helpful - all this IMHO

Generally I think naked Storm is sub-zero cool.
I think what bike on photo missing now is a decent front "bikini" fairing or so... Rad's actually OK, except that on "sides" you may bolt some covers, not to core area, just for sides. Something like you will find on Horner or Fazer 1000.
For front fairing - I think Storm will look fabulous with decent twin lights and SpeedTreeple - like deflector.
I just been toying with making that to my Hornet, but sold it.

I still got kit left, but I am afraid it is no use to you as I am in Belgium and I actually want to sell it not too cheap. But: in UK you should be able to find Triumph parts on eBay, I am sure. And I know where to get like mine kit of lights and fairing from for 200 Euro.
Of course there is million alternatives to front headlight fairing, I think if you look on Hornet's Nest galleries you will find a lot...
http://www.hondahornet.co.uk/gallery/index.php

Also, I think that "classic" handlebar conversion would be cool, and I think Tony did it recently with very inexpensive solution - look here:
http://www.abercon.co.uk/vtr1000/phpBB2 ... 13e553b48b

So with different Bellypan, Hugger, hi bars, decent headlight fairing and wee bit of polishing (rims, footpeg hagers, CNC covers on brake and clutch fluid reservoirs) it'll be proper stunner.
You'll just have to make a choice - grow strong nec or stick on a bit bigger headlight fairing, say for example like on Aprillia Tuono.
Or take cut-down from Peugeot Sppedfight scooter top fairing.
On RunLevelZero VTR gallery I saw photos of "fully" fightered Storm - must say it is extremely cool-looking machine...
As for rads - well, Benelli TNT also have rads on sides, with some fantasy and measuring you would probably be able to get some bits of plastc from any other "rice rocket" :) and work with saw to create kind of "frames" for rads...

If my Strom would've been battered - I'd do all this without slightest hesitation. Apprillia did it- and look at Tuono - Brilliant!

Did not realized you are in France.
Let me correct my answer then.
Have a look at Mondial Moto Accessories fairings ( that's on photo)
And also (of course) Optima production things....etc. etc. - you definitely know it better than me :) France is a country that makes most beatiful aftermarket plastics :)

Triumph Speed Tripple Deflector are not expensive new, but I just realized - you can go same way some of US Hornet 900 owners did - front "deflector" from twin-lighted Buell Lighntning XB12S ...hmmm...looking for photo.
I found an German company that makes those in weaved carbon, and it looks cool with matt black housings twin headlights...

Also thereis expesive :( - Moko GSG half-fairing that'll be probably coolest looking Storm...but...expensive :(

Here is photo of Pegeuot Speedfight scooter fairing on Hornet - a bit big for Hornet 600 but should be perfect for Storm

yeah i even looked at optima and others. i also even thought about speed trip twin lights. i look for low cost too. what i know is that i don't like too big headlight (as speedfight peugeot).
i found a good items too : Image
I like it (not too big and good shape, but the price is a expensive...)
So i look for o good one, before to take decision.
speed trip one?, missilecustoms?, a headlight as the one i already have?...

Craziest ones

Post by bluesman »

IMHO
Craziest headlight fairings made by German streetfighter shops. Here is one of most famous makers

OK Thanks!
I looked at it, there are some good headlights. but prices are many times expensive compared to what it want to spend. But it gave me good ideas!

Yesterday evening, i started to repair my fairings in order to do side rads fairings cutting the top of it (like optima products). so much time to spend and plastics weld to do. But the first welds i did are stronger than what i tought i can manage to do (as strong as there was no crack, but it take time to do a such weld). There are still many hours of work, and weld to do, and i'm not sure to manage to repair it totaly. just have to expect.

For the headlight, i'm still wondering, it ll depend on what i manage with my side fairings... i ll let you know.

just one more question please. many times i read IMHO. What does that mean ?

Used to kind of confirm that this is "what I think and I am not pushing you to necessary agree"
