Just to throw into the mix I really like watching the Baron vids. I think as bikers we can all understand the frustrations. Perhaps he may get a bit hacked off but how many times have you been cut up or shoved off the road and you shouted at the driver. I think the guys is genuine, he takes a camera as a lot do in London, so if he gets crashed into there is evidence.

I have watched plenty of videos that if not video recorded, no one would believe

Well I've only seen the Green laning one and I loved it :D
Especially when he binned it in the water on the second fall  Served him right for being a plonker and trying to green lane a Gixxer
I just wish it happened sooner so I didn't have to waste the first nine minutes waiting for the inevitable

these was a thread about this on BCF a while ago, they was all complaining like noobs on scooters and 125's about having to take there helmet off and bitching like this retard did making and issue of it trying to be clever with his face covered and that

this was my response to them;

I don't give a sh1t i just automatically take it off, deal with it its not a biggie, have respect for those that operate the / own the pumps

if you want to use there sh1t abide by their rules, if you want to wear a helmet while you fill up open your own garage

i've used a firestorm as a commuter bike with a 40 mile round trip daily so used to filling up every two and half days for the last five years

Just mature as a person and take it off before your asked to take it off then it saves any embarrassment for both parties

I got slated by the rock munchers on BCF as i didn't agree with them that we should be able to leave it on etc

Unless of course you want to rob them. I always remove my lid, it's just instinctive. I'm the same when waling into the corner shop to buy my ciggies or whatever. If I made the rules I would also make the religious mobs that like to cover their faces remove whatever it is that they cover themselves with as well.

Lol that would be pretty funny if it's him.

If it is, then I have messaged him on Youtube about some camera mounting tips from his track day videos. He has a very good position and a steady shot, I want to know what he uses :)

cybercarl wrote:I've seen that one before. Bike videos are boring enough to watch at the best of time. Bike going round track, down road, or lane. Same old, same old with the same old view from the camera. Nothing to keep the viewers interest for more than 20 secs. it a bit like putting a camera on a dog collar and saying take yourself of for a walk. Actually that would be more interesting. Sorry that guy's voice and crap commentary drives me nuts along with the crap background music. No storyline or any reasoning behind it just like the majority of youtube vids. I got to agree with Seb.

The thing is youtube breeds amateurs who think they can just buy a camera and go and film something and make it any good. They don't plan their storyline, change angles or think about the editing while shooting. Nothing to keep viewers interest. They just point and shoot. The majority of vids on youtube that are going to be any good or of any use will be shot by professionals, not wannabes with their consumer based cameras. It drives me nuts because quality seems to have gone out the window these days. Even in the mainstream, you get more and more clips on the news for example shot on someones mobile phone. Take that clip on the BBC news in the states recently with the manhunt. A couple of guys shoot the scene on their mobile and all we can see is a badly lit scene with a few blurry Red lights in the distance and shaky hand held foootage. They may as well change the audio, manipulate the footage a bit and try and pass it off as a UFO or abstract art film. I mean, what is the point in even showing that. It's like the BBC news is being run by the Sun newspaper :( They would have been better off with a still image of the scene from earlier and some decent reporting on what's happening/going on.

Sorry bit of a rant there but it bugs me.

Right, i shall try and deal with these queries as best i can in a 1 by 1 retort.

And you may or may not believe this is 'me' - that is up to you to decide.

Carl,
I think you have rather missed the point of YouTube.. its a video portal for 'you' as amateurs to upload whatever in the world you would like to (apart from pornography sadly...). Most uploads do not have multi million pound or even £10 budgets so one is left with only the 'real' world as an option. This is further compounded by the accessibility, affordability and popularity of consumer cameras and/or phone cameras. If a natural disaster occurs its easy to get your phone out rather than hiring Spielberg and a host of Hollywood wafters to film what, by then would have past and been lost forever, never to be seen. I dont think its a justified argument as surely even you would have preferred to see that meteorite over russia from the cab of a lorry driver for example, than not seen it at all?

You are free to visit the cinema to get your fix of world class DOP's and productions such as Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, Mama Mia and anything with Nicolas Cage in.
