Oh well that's not too bad, I always thought it used to be a minimum of 21 years old.

Can the police test for the restrictor at the roadside?

By law they can. However the amount of effort required to get a mobile dyno and stuff means that they won't. I think they can strip down your bike to check it it's discs in the carbs... But they require a warrant to do so? Can't remember. Might just be pulling that out of my butt to be honest, heard it somewhere though  they'll stay in there for a while. But no a year

In theory a vosa testing station can test your bike, but ive never heard of it

I had my xj600 restricted and it rode fine, still do 110mph which i thought was odd and still kept up with bike of similar class, in all honesty i think they forgot to restrict it but delivered it with papers at last minute

I got my thundercats restrictors out within a week though, it was awful to ride with them in, and that was about 15 months before my restriction was up.

Only got asked once by the old bill about it, that was on my XJ, I told them who fitted it and that FI International made it and they just said ok, didnt even give me a producer for the documents or anything

I had the renewal letter through for mine yesterday. Thought it was due at the end of June, turns out its due the 2nd June 8O

After some digging around it is not much cheaper than last year even with another years no claims. On the up side it does have a lot of extras with it. £175quid tptt with curtorsy bike, legal cover, breakdown cover inc home start and running out of fuel, european cover for 60 or 90 days. helmet and leather cover I believe and something else but can not remember what.

Company is MCE if you want to give then a try Virt.

have you checked the small print with regards to the breakdown cover, cause they throw it in and it is nearly worthless. I always check cause they offer to deliver your bike to a garage or location within 7 or 10 miles. I really only use my bike for storm ride outs and I am never 10 miles from my home, therefore I opt to upgrade the cover so I can at least get home from wales.

no to be honest I have not really read into it. Something to do over the next few days. I know it is with RAC but that is about it.

bazzas right. I broke down 7 and a half miles over my 10 ten mile limit ie 17.5 miles from home and the charming b8stard at the rac charged 42 pounds to come and get me. would not send anyone until they had got my card number safely entered into their system. I have now changed the cover

MCE is the choice I'm going with in October as everyone else either doubles the premium or won't insure me (the second I mention suspension upgrades.. I don't even need to say it's Ohlins). However they won't insure me until I get 1 years

Mce also cover you to ride other bikes on a third party basis, well they do me anyway

How did you upgrade the cover bazza? How much was it?

I've got it but already knew it was useless

Think you need a minimum age of 21 for that though.. Same as you would for renting a vehicle, and by 21 you wouldn't be on a restrictor (in the old license at least..) so you could ride anything, instead of me borrowing your bike and getting done as it isn't restricted... My brother has it in his insurance but it wasn't valid until recently and we presume it's for that reason.. Only reason that makes sense if you ask me :p
