I also agree this is a good idea with the stock front end.
I have been saying for a while now that the real weak link in the stock front end is the lower triple clamp.

I was going to get a new clamp made up for mine ( or hunt down an Attack Performance 600F3 lower triple) but then I ended up with the SP2 forks so that project got cancelled.

As for how much room you have to work with, look at the plastic fork protectors.
You will need to remove them (or cut them way down) as they will be the bit that hits but you can also use them as a guide to how thick you can go before things start hitting :thumbup:
