I also need to do the stopper mod. Guy I bought some bits off, first question "have you blown it up yet?", his lad had a Storm, which lunched it's CCT, engine rebuilt by Roger D - did it again 600 miles later. Stuck with one of the airbox screws that's chewed, FFS thought Yamaha were bad for using fasteners made out of plasticine, Honda must have used the same supplier! I know it's the perfect time to do it, I just know I'll muck it up :problem:
I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!

Here's an idea Virt, get hold of a replacement flywheel with markings, (£30) fit it, then do stopper mod (£3).

Sell your flywheel (+£30)

£3 spent, problem solved and peace of mind restored!

Setting the engine at or close to tdc for the Stopper doesn't realy need the flywheel markings, you can work from the cam position on the rear cyl and then go 450 degs.

I will do them for you but a) you come to my house and b) you bring the CCT key I loaned you

IloveyouIloveyouLoveyou! :D
I still have the key safe and sound, however I'm lacking satnav on this bike :? Might need to see if I can steal the satnav holder off the hornet then

Do you guys think the bike will be safe to use? I can't afford, in terms of money OR time, to use the bus. 90 minutes to get home/to work ( not including waiting 30 minutes after work finishes ) is not something I can do. I'm drowning in work currently

Bring it down the pub on Friday, we'll fix your bike in the car park after about 10 pints

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Sorry to boycott the thread but could someone possibly message leevtr for me regarding his cans? I'm assuming he can PM me and I should be able to reply!

In relation to the CCT's, I had one apart the other day and what a simplistic design. The stopper mod is obviously the cheapest and most effective method to prevent failure but I wondered if anyone has managed to purchase replacement/ upgraded springs... The springs realistically are the only parts that are going to fail and would be surprised if there's no repair kits for them!
I'm not death to power tools... If it breaks, it's obviously NOT a power tool!!!
