after 4 years with a restricted 1000cc motorcycle :Mad2: i followed exactly the instructions from sirch345 screen shot. i did the same at mine few months ago and worked fine. it is very easy and takes only 15-20 minutes, just read carefully and follow the instructions. i didn't have to remove the fering because the cables from the speedometer was long enough but i think the previous owner might have changed them.
i wrapped with insulating tape the cable i removed in case it touches the place it was screwed. you may hear a lot opinions, ECU unit must be changed or must be modified, metallic plates on carbs restrict the fuel and much much more. start with the easy, simple and zero cost solution.

Can you just plug in a normal ICM?
I would think so, but best to double check the wiring is the same forst in case there are any subtle diffrances.
