VFR gear drive cams nice and reliable, if you did have a tensioner fail on the CBR it'll let you know with a rattle, then it's easy replacement, basically just whip it out and pop a new one on. Unfortunately the firestorm is a bit more complicated, first sign of a rattle can often be too late and result in valve or cylinder head damage. There's a guide on here (which you may have already seen) which will walk you through it all (stopper mod or fitting manual tensioners) follow to the letter and you'll have no troubles. In the case of these bikes Prevention is definitely better than cure.

Thanks.
I take it the adjuster at the bottom of the shock is a damping setter.

Yes the one in picture number 5, should be accessed from the right hand side of the bike.

Hello roger

And welcome. At that price it's worth a punt- I' m massively excited with my w reg storm I got last week.

It cost me £1000 and it's massive value. - just need to give it a full service and fluids change then there we go !!!!!

This forum is amazing and was a great inspiration to me to get a storm - and I'm in leyland if you ever fancy a chat

Got it.
Also bought the battery for it.
I'll get it running after cleaning the starter conections as the starter seemed to struggle.
Will take some piccies :D :D :D

Unfortunately its snowing here in Rochdale.
I dont have a garage to work in, the bike is in a large shed along with my Vfr.
Typical British weather.
