Re: Soooo NOT happy!!
When my RR went it didn't harm the battery but took the stator out. I don't know if that could cause your problem, but a faulty RR won't just damage a battery.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!
Re: Soooo NOT happy!!
Ok so here's an update and a few pics.
Ok so the 1st is the positive battery terminal leaking, not from the vent but from the actual terminal.
2nd is the acid oozing down the battery box towards an unforgivable place.
3rd, the unforgivable place is the swing arm and the damage it has caused.
I have had repeated conversations with the seller who even admits the terminal looks bent and are adamant that it is not their fault and will not be sending out a replacement battery or give a full refund. Ok so it's not an £80 battery but it still should not leak from the terminal. The breather outlet if anywhere. I'm gutted about the damage to the swing arm. I've opened up a dispute with the seller and will now take proceedings with Trading standards.
A new battery or refund would of been a nice good will gesture but as they have shrugged it off I'm going the whole hogg!!
That's the update. Thanks for reading.

Re: Soooo NOT happy!!
I'm sorry to hear of your bad luck with your new battery.
Is this a Yuasa battery (iirc I think that is what you said you were getting) and if it is, is it a genuine battery not a Chinese copy
The terminal does look badly formed in the photo, which makes me think it could be a copy,
Chris.

Re: Soooo NOT happy!!
Thanks Chris. Unfortunately it's not a Yuasa. I cldnt afford 1 at the time so went for a cheaper version. It's an Exide Ytx16-BS. Wish I had gone for the Yuasa now. See what happens soon with the case. For the moment fingers crossed it's not leaking as bad and dripping out everywhere. Might clean the terminal up and put a thin bead of silicone around it just to help. The battery itself runs the bike lovely.

Re: Soooo NOT happy!!
It may have been dropped but I reckon it's a cheap copy. If it had been dropped the square opening would be a parallelogram. It's not. It's just a badly made terminal block, something that would never get through QA in a decent manufacturer. The rest of it doesn't look very well made either.redpig wrote:might have been dropped at some time?

Re: Soooo NOT happy!!
Ah I see. If you use silicone sealer you'll probably need one that is suitable for lead, or an epoxy resin might work, although if the terminal pole has movement in it, an epoxy resin it may not. It might pay you to hang on and see how the case goes before modifying it in case it ends up going back.VTRid3r wrote:Thanks Chris. Unfortunately it's not a Yuasa. Good luck with the dispute case, I hope it goes in your favour, it ought to,
Chris,
