I have had a few different types of cans on my storms,
Carbon Micron race cans- they were really pretty loud and needed repacked,Art oval twin spout stainless-I didnt like the quality or fit again these were race versions but the bands could be changed to make them look legal I have to saythese were the cheapest to buy,Remus High level titainium- great quality great sound, but couldnt fit panniers and i didnt like the pillion peg mounts as these seemed to stick out to far,(these were the most expensive but top quality) and currently i have low level oval stainless race Quills these are really great nice note decent quality,
but like everything else you pays your money and makes your choice,

A note on legality...

It's always been the case that you can get points for cans or visors, nothing has changed or been added "new"

Visors can be construed as "driving without due care" if they dont permit the proper amount of light.

Cans can contribute to a "no insurance" offence (another reason to tell them) as your insurer will always ask if you have any modifications. This could be a "false statement" offence if you don't tell them.

Having said that, 99.9% of the time it will be dealt with through a vehicle defect notice, which means you have to get the fault put right. Visors, this means having a proper one with a BS kite mark or equivalent. Cans means having BS stamped cans on and taking it to an MOT station within 14 days.

If you're riding like a fool, chances are they'll tack on additional offences. Say they do you for speeding, and you're an ass about it they're gonna slap you for plates/cans/visors the works...

When I use my dark visor, I always carry a clear one with me, and I don't use my dark one unless it's gloriously sunny anyway.

I also carry all my documents with me when possible. Licence (both parts for photo ones) Insurance and MOT. Advantage of this is that if you do get stopped, it lets the officer know straight away that you're on the level and provided you're nice to them and weren't being a loon in the first place, should be fine.

Additionally, you can only get points based on the most serious offence. So if you got a 5 point speeding charge, you wont get another 3 for the cans and another bunch for the visor, just the 5.

you're right kitch

you can only get a ticket for the most serious offence and a warning for the rest however, if you're an ass you dont get a ticket and you get a day out in court with old fuddy duddy's on the bench who'll do you for the lot.
Have you noticed when you're riding that everyone going slower than you is an idiot and everyone going faster than you is a maniac?
