Wonderful sound for a while when running then...................................... it just slowed and stopped. Out of gas? Nope. It had bl%dy well seized a crankshaft bearing!!! It just locked up solid. Dismantled it and freed off the ball race but not happy at all. It's still too stiff to hold the three degree ignition advance. Emails to the supplier who agreed to take it back etc.
Waited in all day today for a courier company to collect it as advised by the supplier.
Guess what? They haven't arrived as of 8.30pm so I guess they ain't coming!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Oh Nooooooooooooooo that's a bit of a pain to say the least I take it, it's a main bearing that has failed, not a big end bearing How are they all lubricated
Main bearings are roller bearings. One just locked solid. No idea why. They are grease filled and should only need a light spray over with lubricant occasionally as they are contained within machined alluminium blocks that are shielded so???????
Big end bearings are like model gloplug engines ie ali conrod plain bearing etc. Amount of work these will do it won't be a problem if a light machine oil is dripped into the area occasionally.
It's gonna be a collection after x'mas now. What a pi**er!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is strange, normally roller bearings last for years, far superior to the ball bearing type Do you intend to get this one sorted out and returned, or has it put you off them
