HELL YEAH!!! Bike is now up and running :) Dodgy corroded connector located and temporary fix complete. Happy days! A bit more work needed before the maiden voyage but I feel a shakedown coming on. hehe. Now off to sort out a decent recovery plan with the AA or someone :P

I need to bleed clutch and rear brake. There is a whole news bulletin for dealers for bleeding the rear brake in a special way as the standard was not effective. The rear reservoir looks empty so need to check that. The clutch reservoir contains a brown/black liquid. lol

yeh. take the caliper off to bleed it bud.
easier to completely remove the bleed nipple and add fluid til it comes through clear, then put it back in and bleed as normal.
they do have a habit of boiling the fluid so maybe you'd be better using dot4 in the rear?

Yeah, in the Aprilia Service Bulletin on rear brake bleeding it says;
"For this operation, use DOT 4 oil from sealed containers; do not use DOT 5.0 or DOT 5.1 oils since the first damages system seals while the second, though compatible, is more hygroscopic and can thus cause vapour lock if not properly preserved."
