Mattster, I just spotted this............imagine how I feel, I will be camping 200yds from a house I own, 1/2 mile from 3 sets of inlaws and 3 or 4 old school mates, and 15 miles from my brothers farm and 16 miles from my mums house.

But I like camping so i will forsake the comfy bed and slum it with the troops :D

Spoke to the Campsite http://www.dumgal.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=3754

and becasue we dont need an electric hook up they are OK without booking, they can always find a space for a few small tents.

Assuming we have 4 tents he will call it 2 pitches and each pitch is £12/night, so it will work out £12 each for 2 nights

Was it just me thinking this, or did someone talk about riding round the highlands as part of this Op Storm?

I am sure someone was telling me how good the roads were up there because I was thinking that I had never done them but definitely wanted to.

Sorry, I wont make this one. Can't afford it this year. When I eventually make it to Scotland, it'll have to be a week at least.

Oh yes, I could.
But this one is going to be a proper job.
It may take longer, but I'm not leaving any of my ideas out this time.
All or nothing.

Next year, though.......

proposed route to go up on friday is looking like this
http://goo.gl/maps/hJCn2

would pick up Ziggy and Ady in Settle or Hawes.

and we can pick Grumpyfrog up in Hawick

the roads from Leyburn north I havnt done before, but and told they are great, and once we get to the Samye Ling Budest temple [well worth a stop and some quiet meditation after the 300 miles of noise and speed :D ] I know those roads and I know they are great :)

if the weather is good the sceneary will blow your mind...........if it pissing down we can take a shorter route up the A6 and over SHAP
