I've had the same conversation with my insurance company.
yes your no claims is protected, so a 50 or 60% discount.
but your premium will increase, say it was £200 last year and the ncb of 60% took it down to £120, this year your premium, because of the claim could rise to £400 of which you still get your protected 60% discount....£240.
I hope i'm wrong, but that's what happened to me several years ago when I was involved in an accident with a driver who fled from the scene and surprise surprise the next day he reported his car as stolen, and I got stitched up...
