I'm headed to University soon and I'm back there for just for a day in around 3 weeks on a Sunday, so I'm gonna take a good look around their usually jammed packed car park and and ask and see if there are any cameras since you have had the misfotune of this infuriating incident.. I'll make sure if I ever go on the bike, I'll park it right up near main doors as as close to the building as the car park runs downhill on both sides and is usually full... got me thinking on it now, so thanks you for inadvertently giving me food for thought!
I hope CN don't go ape on you cos I think they are one of the dearest around so good luck with it all..Hope you find out who did it though, I'd make them feel so small and uncomfortable..grrrrrrrr....

Well I heard back from the insurance company today and they have authorised repairs to the value of £2004 to a bike that cost £2080 when I bought it three years ago!! Go figure. I'm not complaining mind but it never ceases to amaze me how insurance companies work. I thought there was a percentage of the value they wouldn't exceed, 60% of the value of the bike rings a bell.
Oh well onwards and upwards.

that's good news kev, will it be a cat d tho?
when they wrote off my r-reg storm they valued it at £1600, so i'd say they'll value yours at £3k+ maybe nearer £4k, and that's why the repairs are authorised, do you know how this will effect your insurance premiums????
it won't be long before old blue will be back to its former glory......

The bikes going to be repaired not written off so no cat c/d attached to it. I have had protected no claims for a number of years and have never claimed on the insurance in the 38yrs I've been riding, however it will be interesting to see what that will do come renewal time, we'll see.
I was thinking of having it resprayed, red or black or yellow, or even (whisper it) silver..............................

I've had the same conversation with my insurance company.
yes your no claims is protected, so a 50 or 60% discount.
but your premium will increase, say it was £200 last year and the ncb of 60% took it down to £120, this year your premium, because of the claim could rise to £400 of which you still get your protected 60% discount....£240.
I hope i'm wrong, but that's what happened to me several years ago when I was involved in an accident with a driver who fled from the scene and surprise surprise the next day he reported his car as stolen, and I got stitched up...

I took a lesson from this KevL so when I was at University y'day, not being the shy type when it comes to asking for anything that will benefit me, I had a long conversation about cameras and car parking (where the hell all the students get the money to buy their cars) as the car park is jammed by 9am and the car park runs down a bit of a steep road on both sides and I explained about your situation and said I wondered if there were any dedicated Motorcycle parking spaces? didn't fancy someone knocking into it or knocking it over. They didn't know but said they'd get back to me as I explained the costs involved if what happens to you, happens to me! As a lot of young drivers...well. I said 'a lot' not all of them, and I told my Lecturer I really didn't fancy coming back to my bike to find it a big 'ding' in it! Left it with her, went home..

Y'day late afternoon, got a call, I can park my bike in the staff car park which is near the students car park but it's barrier operated and I was told if I ride up ( whenever I take my bike) the porters have been made aware and will show me where to park! I call that a right result!!   So I'm chuffed and relieved that I get to park it in a safer place and near the door ( bloody big place) so I have you to thank because of your plight,I got staff parking rights when on my bike.. Good news you're getting sorted and it will look like new in no time!

Ah I see you have inserted a deliberate error in that statement. Fast and black are never seen in the same sentence!!! :Ball Kick:
