A brand new engine wont be sitting around long before it gets oil, run and tested, and they are pre lubricated by parts suppliers.

I did say that and wasn't suggesting it was started up without putting fresh oil in it, I've re commissioned engines that had the oil taken out and had sat for far longer with no problems. In fact I have one in the workshop to do now, I need to compression test it first, I won't be putting oil in to do that as it then needs transporting, I'll squirt some oil down the bores then test, It'll still have enough oil in it for a few cranks to test. It may well be knackered as I have no idea how long it's been standing, could be years by the looks of it.

Without reading through all the post I got this far.
Re the restart...wasn't there some advice posted recently about this along the lines of...Oil down the bores, turn over by hand slowly then turn over on the starter but with plugs not in & fuel off....
Roger posted a thread somewhere on storing and restarting a bike i'm sure.

I shall see if I can find it.

Here you go.
