You gave them to me. And the right one made contact with the road surface while I was riding the hornet...

Maybe not.
They'll help if the bike falls over
But if the bike goes down at anything over 20mph then the first thing to get ripped off is the crash bungs.
This is the result of getting nudged off at 55mph across the road, up the curb and onto the grass verge.
Yeah brand new that morning GSR750 was fitted with R&G crash bungs.
