I always wondered what the "X" stood for.

I could be mistaken, but I don't recall the American press having wall-to-wall coverage of the Great Fire of London on every news channel for hours at a time.

Considering that it's a very wealthy area, and those who bothered with insurance will get a payout, perhaps there's a price to pay for choosing to live in a drought ridden area.

And on an ironic note, at least they all seem to have their chimneys left. Maybe they should have built the houses to the same standards as the chimneys?

However knowing how the Medical Insurance works over there with loads of claims being rejected... I bet the robbing bastids will try & wangle their way out of paying for everything...

Getting up early for work. Although I've retired I still pick up a driving shift or two each week on an occasional basis to take a young man with disabilities and his care staff to college and back.
To get there in time via the M25 means getting up at 05:50.
It's longer hours than I used to do when I was working fulltime!

It pays for fripperies such as the motorbike trailer I recently bought, without the wife's housekeeping pot taking a hit.

I'm conducting some market research into a new product idea, and would welcome input/opinions.

Since becoming a grandparent to a child who, at present, is showing no signs of interest in cleaning motorcycles for me, I have been able to observe at close quarters the struggles that parents face when trying to clean newly-emerging teeth.

The child does not seem to recognise that the enterprise is in its own good, and as it is currently non-verbal, no amount of reasoned argument or references to the Dental authorities' recommendations have any effect

In practice, the only things that the child seems interested in relate to activities that make it laugh. Even then, the laugh is very close to the noise it makes when crying, and it's sometimes hard to tell which it is. But anything connected with brushing the handful of teeth that have so far broken cover is definitely of the latter category.

In order to try to convince the child to accept (I'd even accept "tolerate") the activity, I have applied my design skills to finding a solution. I initially considered a dummy fitted with one of the fuzzy brush balls you see in motorway service toilet dispensing machines. However the dummy has, it appears, become a plaything rather than functioning as a soother; and its current purpose seems to be a way for the child to inflict back pain on any nearby adult by throwing it on the floor and then demanding that it be picked up again- and repeat, ad nauseum.

So the latest idea is a combined toothbrush and harmonica. It adds a "fun" noise to the procedure, and may, perhaps, make it more tolerable.
At least there's the possibility of the child developing a musical repertoire, even if it is "Twinkle, twinkle, little star" on repeat.

But that only deals with the outer tooth surface, so what to do with the inner-facing surfaces? My initial preference was to create a new access point hidden round the back of the neck- maybe hidden by the hairline, and go in from the back, but the child's parents have vetoed that option. (Rather firmly, and without giving it due credence, I thought- but apparently [or should it be parently?] they have the casting vote).

I can't remember how we tackled the problem with our own twins as it's too long ago. One of the twins is now the parent of the child who my research is focussed upon, and they can't remember, even though they're only 30, so what chance have I got at my age?

For now, the design process has stalled, but I'm open to suggestions that don't involve the potential of criminal allegations of assault or the requirement for general anaesthesia. I looked on Go Ogle for suitable options; it appears that nobody else has considered linking these two commonplace items into a single functional unit, so I'm braking new ground once again.

It's always me that has to do all the thinking round here.

A chainsaw but tell the parent's it's just an electric toothbrush...

Obviously use an electric one not a rip snorting two stroke job, the extra noise & smoke might be a bit off putting.

The good thing is one the teeth are clean you probably wont have to clean them again.

The bad news is quite possibly the rest of your life on C block & it's not picking up pacifiers that'll be the worry...

for our young grandson Helen bought childs toothbrush and childs toothpaste. I said why special toothpaste, Helen said he's got to look after his teeth! I said he's going to loose those teeth when he's 5 or 6. Marketing rip off in my opinion.
