I've seen price hikes likes this before ,
If a seller has an item with a few watchers and it don't sell after a few times listing it the seller will realist it to end near the end of the month .
So when an unexpecting watcher/buyer has had the item in there watch list at say £10 and when pay day come the item has been relisted with the new price the buyer didn't notice and gets stung !! When buying it .
