The rear brake is crap due to the location of the master cylinder, not alot you can do about it unless you fit rearsets that reposition the master cylinder, I put some robymoto sets on mine that put the cylinder in a conventional position and the rear brake worked really good after that, also the peg position was loads better than std.

I fitted a few different chips to mine and tried 4 differnet pipes, The akra is by far the best but none of the chips were really any good, I fitted a power commander in the end and the bike made another 7 bhp at the wheel, money much better spent.

Don't think an airbox mod is worthwhile, from what i remember they only offer top end performance and you hardly need that on a T, been on track with my mille up against other mille's with airbox mods and claiming 10hp more than mine, but never had any one of them pass me on the straight...Don't think airbox mods give all they're claimed to.
Cheers for the heads up popkat.

I'll be going for the Aprilia Performance rearsets, local produce and all that. That'll help sort the brakes out. Having a really poor rear brake really doesn't help with confidence. I didn't realise just how much I relied on it till it wasn't there. Must get that sorted soon.

I have twin akras with a PCIII fitted. I've not done the air box mod yet.

Whats your milage, you didn't clean the oil tank filter, from memory i think they're suposed to be done around 8000 miles.
You don't have to go for a ride to warm the bike up before oil change, If you don't want to ride it you can just let it warm til the fans come on a couple of times.
Early ones suffered from fully synthetic oil, I used a high end semi once (rock oil) and it knackered the clutch plates :( although from 2001 they modified the clutch to be a bit more tolerant, Aprilia only state semi synthetic, cheaper too. I used just a basic semi (shell/silkoline)

How did you set your oil level, the vid doesn't show that.

It's at 14k. You are right, I didn't clean the oil strainer. Doh. I'll make sure I do that next oil change (Probably late spring)

I hear conflicting stories about the need to ride vs not so I went with the Haynes manual. Anyways, any excuse for a ride right? lol

I used the Castrol Power 1 semi. I used the same in my storm with no issues.

As for setting the level. After emptying the tank/engine and oil filter casing of oil and leaving it to drain for a few hours, I dumped 3.5l in. Started her up for a few minutes. Checked level. Added another 0.4L. Started her. Checked. Left it till this morning and took her out for a ride. Came back and checked. I might put a little more in but here is the current level after a 20 mile ride.

Only mentioned the oil as the vid says power1 racing which is the fully synth stuff.

Oil level should be 20-25mm down from the max mark. I used to check mine whilst out on a ride, either pull over and jump off for a qiuck look or lean over the side to check at the traffic lights, might be easy to drop the the bike that way though  (easier on a T than a mille)

Loving it! :) Had a few moments spinning the rear end up under acceleration. Wasn't happy with all the salt so put her away. Got the more sensible hooligan bike out for this weather

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Nope. lol Just the rear brake to sort and the clutch fluid to change.

I just have to plan even further ahead than usual when braking

I took the "T" out for a blatt last night to the local bike meet. I know, I know, I shouldn't be on it till me leathers fit, but I was running late and didn't want to do 20 miles @ 50mph on the newly geared DRZ

I'll tell you this though, Its fooking sweet!!

That is all!

Nope. It was totally about the speed. I was determined to reach 70mph.

The one wheel fix is now a daily ritual on the other bike :shh:

I know I shouldn't have but rode the 'T' today.

I went to meet up a few friends for a coffee and decided to take a scenic route home. There was too much traffic but still managed to develop the relationship it and all I can say is "WOW".

Getting used to it now

No proper wheelies yet though AMCQ46
