fitted the stick coils this morning and snook out for a test ride...i can't believe the difference they've made,easier starting,idles alot smoother,picks up much much better and it might be because i've not ridden it since feb but it seems faster too...all in all a great mod.

i've said it before, pound for pound one of the best mods i've done on my bike (well tony fitted them for me... :lol: )

Sticks are still on my to do list, just need to get hold of some. Have heard wonders about them though.

Was at work with the sun shining and thought, hmmmmm would be nice to get the bike out and go for a ride. I got as far as getting the bike out and thought, hmmmmmmm think I'll give it a full polish this time rather than just the body work. I tell you what it looks a hell of a lot better. See for yourself.....

The rearsets are so shiny the heal plate looks golden in the sun :lol: :lol:

Got to admit I do not like how my phone spoils the shade of the paint. Does not look any where near as shiny and also looks slightly pink. The cans have come on nicely as well...

+1 with that marty...it feels like a new,more responsive bike altogether...just got to find the little knock i heard...tbh i think it needs the valves clearances doing again as thats where i think it's coming from but that'll wait until i pluckup the courage to change the cct's...i've got them but reading about how to set them and actually doing them is something that i don't think i can do without supervision...i've had one valves meets piston episode already so don't want another..

bike looks great :thumbup: good thing about this forum is you get spurred on to do things that maybe you wouldn't, so now feeling the need to show mine more tlc when I get her back more permanently :D

why don't you two get together and share the cost, you'll have to buy 4 x stick coils anyway and the loom that needs splitting into two lots of two.....
should work out about £25 each.... :thumbup:

You are certainly right about getting spurred on to do stuff being on this forum. That and the nice paint work I now have have really kicked me into gear looking after it. Always wash bikes but never spent so long polishing haha.

Yeah I'm up for splitting the cost. If I cone across any and you can't afford it there and let ill hold them back for when you are :thumbup:

Yep stick coils are a good one and are a noticeable change. They can be be either a slight change or a very very noticeable change depending on how tired your old coils and HT leads are. Just eliminating the HT leads and having the the coils connect direct to the plug is a befit in itself. They should be done before any dyno work or they will affect things :thumbup:

CK your bike look more shiny everytime I see it. :lol: Tatoo get them CCT's done :eek2 : Are you gong down the stopper route or manuals.

Well there is still more shining to be done to it. The cans are the biggest job. Everything else is just a once or twice over job. It will get there one day. Hoping to get the bike back to the sticker shop this week to get the number boards done on the seat cowl. Don't trust myself to do them

i got some manuals off bazza a few weeks ago but the more i read about fitting and setting them the more i'm bothered about doing it wrong...as i said..i've had valves kiss piston on the front cylinder and don't want to tackle it without someone thats done it before watching what i'm doing

i know i need some threadlock but which type??

Any brand threadlock will do. You could even just use some gasket seal if you have any knocking around. It's only to prevent oil creeping along the thread and to help stop things (possibly) vibrating loose over time. More of a safety precaution really and if the nut is locked of securely it shouldn't vibrate loose. It's one of those jobs where the nerves rule over the the practicalities of the job.

If you are going to do it yourself the best advice I can give you is not to rely on feel for setting the tension and spend the extra time to remove the front cam cover. Take your time and double check everything. The most important bit is getting the timing correct which is dead simple with both cam covers removed. It's also then easy to set the right tension between the cam sprockets with a ruler. A bit like setting the tension on your drive chain really. If you do end up giving it a go yourself, PM me and I will give you my mobile number in case you get stuck or are unsure about something and I can talk you through it. I would offer to take a ride up and give you a hand but I've got so many things on my plate at the moment.

Before doing anything though, make sure those generator caps come undone. Or that's another job :eek2

bikes looking good chris, your slowly coming around to the less is more way of thinking. at least where the decals are concerned... :lol:
