Worth checking it on the dyno as it'll probably run lean now.
You can offset the effects by using a K&N or similar, but a Dynojet or Factory Pro jet kit will be most effective.

But as long as you do a plug check in the first few days you shouldn't do any damage- the risk though is that it'll run lean and burn a hole in a piston or burn out a valve seat.

However, please don't panic :wtf: - I'm just outlining the worst case, it'll almost certainly run for years without problems, even if it's running a bit lean.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I'm going to check the plug today, but it doesnt feel lean...

Its completely stock intake apart from 33bhp restrictors which made it run very rich...
So much so that the plugs were always black, and the bike spluttered petrol out the pipes a bit...
Not any more though :D

Finally bit the bullet and completed the bafflectomy of the storm today. OMG what a difference. I keep thinking "How long will it be before getting pulled" but then think "Some Harleys are stoopid loud so I should be fine." It sounds how it should now and i'll keep it that way untill I can afford some proper cans :)

I'd only add that I recently had to swap back to the standard ones from my Carbon Can Co ones (MOT-just for a couple of hours, obviously :D )

And once again I was struck by how heavy the standard ones are- all that extra weight.....

So even though a bafflectomy is cheap, because you might still want a standard pair for the MOT you might be better off buying some non-marked race cans.

And the standard ones make the footrests vibrate!

One last thought- if you want to quieten race cans (Track day? Complaining neighbour? Producer?) you can always bolt in some DB killers- can't do that with a bafflectomy'd set.

dunno tbh, reckon you could get some made up to fit for the big day.
that 'getbidding' seller on ebay who does the dodgy welded ones will make them up to any size for the same prise - tenner each.
even if they look sh1t, as long as they work....

mot tester might not bat a eye tbh

Just preformed a bafflectomy on my stock cans and gotta say very happy with the results. Not too loud at all imo just right with that nice deep tone put a smile on my face anyway. :D

Had a bit of trouble getting them out so banged a big chissle into the pipe and twisted it with vice grips and it came out no bother, although left a slightly bigger hole in the inside plate (not exactly round).

Only drove it 3 miles from my bro in laws house so need to get a good test run yet.
